Wired youth forget how to write in China and Japan
Basically, the teen/young adult culture in China and Japan is so heavily centered around their cell phones and computers that they've forgotten how to write the characters. It's not entirely surprising—our culture's similar in that people forget how to write in cursive, for instance—because the computers and cell phones just don't have a simple enough capability to type in the character strokes, but it's still a saddening evolution of language.
